Pego
With just over ten thousand inhabitants, Pego offers the facilities that Vall de Gallinera lacks.
Those who love to hike can best start on the Avinguda Il-lustrat Joan Sala. From here you can walk, among other things, to the Castillo de Ambra, which is located three kilometers outside the city center and was built as a fortress in the twelfth century for fear of feudal conquest. Although it lost its significance shortly after the foundation of Pego in 1280, the walk there is not too long and well worth it.
Do you prefer to walk between the rice fields? The La Marjal reserve, which consists of marshes in addition to rice fields, is home to several endangered wetland birds. Although the area is suitable for walking and cycling, it is particularly attractive to birdwatchers who want to enjoy the area in peace. Do you decide to visit the park? Then you can drive to both the Muntanyeta Verda Parking (Pego) as the Font Salada (Oliva).
Market
The market takes place every Thursday between 08:00 and 13:00 on the Plaça Antic Regne de Valènci and Plaça del Mercat.
Food and drinks
You can enjoy good food at RAFEL, L’Om Restaurante and Bar Daniel. The latter is our personal favourite.
